Art: Stephen completed this 1-signal perspective activity at domicile every bit I was trying to effigy out what would be appropriate for his class. (By the way, teaching perspective is simply NOT my cup of tea! Simply, information technology is really rewarding when they become it.)
Stephen's finished masterpiece |
We decided this one would be tough for some of them to do in a short timeframe. Instead, we drew a room with ane-point perspective using this one-point perspective tutorial on Wetcanvas.
While I'm on the subject of fine art, for an abstruse art project, we wrote each letter of our first names once, rotating the paper afterwards writing each letter.
This is a digital example of Stephen's name. |
Stephen'southward completed abstruse art project. |
We are at present under construction, so I have a long list of things we didn't do this week. If you're interested in finding more activities, here are some we did not do this week:
- Read or listen to the get-go 15 chapters of Four Bang-up Americans by James Baldwin – all almost Washington'due south life for young readers. pdf | Audio
- Homeschoolshare's Presidents Day Lapbook (We did this last year for President's Day)
- Practical Pages George Washington lapbook components
- George Washington Lesson Program
- The Life of George Washington (Video in 3 Parts: Early Years, Military Commander, and Guiding the New Nation)
- Presidents Twenty-four hours Vacation Helper past Living Books Curriculum
Because I've listed all of our resources on our Resources Links Page, I will discontinue writing out what we don't do, because I recall it'due south obvious now that I've overplanned, Specially given our electric current circumstances.
Even though we didn't go around to doing everything we planned, we did do some things that weren't on our list, similar go to the garden to "throw tomatoes." Whereas nigh people would say, "I desire to go pick tomatoes," our children take off running or (riding their bikes) towards to garden, saying, "I want to get throw tomatoes."
After a quick bike ride, the boys collect rotten tomatoes for ballistics-type experiments. |
The boys are throwing tomatoes equally loftier in the air as possible. |
Later "throwing tomatoes," the boys accept off running to Flat Rock… |
…where we notice this rock that looked like an one-time man yelling. |
Mid-week, the lumber and crew arrived to brainstorm the building of our addition. (Only 1 set-back in the process: I accidentally made the Port-a-Potty people mad. Simply Gary returned from Tanzania the day this all started. So, though information technology was a hectic morning, I gave a huge sigh of relief upon seeing him in the drome that afternoon.)
This week, Levi spent a lot of fourth dimension with the "Pork-lift." |
And our house slowly but surely doubled in size. |
Next week marks my terminal week this year equally a tutor, and so we kickoff our traveling excursions down south. And so, though I won't be writing planning posts, you can find optional activities by visiting our Supplemental Resource Page. Everything is sorted by subject, which hopefully will aid those of you lot looking for resources to use for the residuum of the year. (I volition go along to update information technology when I find adept resources that we hope to use as a family.) Our plan is to wrap upwardly our American Revolution studies before long and get-go our Civil War studies. (We hope to post next week's activities before nosotros head to Texas.)
